Currencycloud is a global leader in bank and brokerage fin-tech solutions, having received several rounds of funding from major players, in January 2021, they completed a successful $80 million funding round, joined by blue-chip investors such as Visa, BNP Paribas and Siam Commercial Bank. In November 2021, Currencycloud was acquired by Visa for $930m.

At Captiva we take the security of our clients' money and data very seriously. Currencycloud is authorised in the UK by the Financial Conduct Authority for the issuing of electronic money and the provision of payment services, under FCA registration number 900199. In addition, Currencycloud is registered in the USA with FinCEN and is authorised in 22 states to transmit money. Our clients' funds are safeguarded by our FCA-regulated e-money partners at a credit institution. In the unlikely event of Captiva Currency Management, or Currency Cloud ceasing to exist, your money remains protected at all times. Currency Cloud are ISO/IEC 27001:2013 compliant and consistently review and enhance our processes and systems to ensure that we remain secure.

When funds are posted to our clients' accounts, e-money is issued in exchange for these funds, by Currencycloud (EMI). In line with regulatory requirements, Currencycloud safeguards our clients' funds. This means that the money behind the balance you see in your account is held at a reputable bank, and most importantly, is protected for you in the event of Currencycloud’s, or our, insolvency. Currencycloud stops safeguarding your funds when the money has been paid out of your account to your beneficiary’s account.
